Kings Cross Methodist Church

Short Liturgy for Sunday Worship

We met in the presence of God

And we do not meet alone.

With the angels in highest heaven

We gather to worship God

With new friends and old, with family and strangers

We praise God’s holy name

In hostels and mansions, in hotels and on the streets,

We praise God’s holy name

With our hearts and voices

We praise God’s holy name .

We meet in the presence of God

And we do not meet alone

A Hymn or song

Gracious God, we than you for being here amongst us this morning

We come to you with different needs.

Some of us here need to say “Help me”

And some of us need to say “Save me”

And some of us need to say “Hold me”

And some of us need to say “Forgive me”

Gracious God, hear us as our hearts speak to you in the silence.

(silence)

O Christ, In whose heart is both welcome and warning,

Sat to us, do to us, reveal within us

The things that will make us whole.

And we will wait together,

And we will praise you together. Amen.

Let us listen to God’s word:

Bible readings

Discussion, or time of silence, or short address, or piece of music as appropriate.

A hymn or song followed by a time for sharing news and notices and the offering or our gifts of money for the work of the church.

Let us bring the needs of the world to God in prayer.

A time of open or led prayer.

A hymn or song

Gracious God, in the company of the neighbour whom we know,

And the stranger in our midst,

And the self from whom we turn,

Hear the prayers we offer you.

May we love as Jesus loved.

Make this the time and place, gracious God,

When heaven and earth merge into one

And your kingdom breaks in amongst us. Amen.

We say together the words of the Lord’s prayer.

Our father, who art in heaven ,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,

For ever and ever. Amen.

As we got out into the world,

May God’s peace rest upon us

As we return to our daily lives

May God’s love dwell within us

As we live in fellowship with others

May God’s hope live through us.

Wherever we are, wherever we go,

In houses and hostels, in flats and mansions, in hotels and on the streets,

May the blessing of God almighty,

Our creator, our sustainer and our living inspiration

Rest upon us, and remain with us always. Amen.
