Methodist Chaplaincy House is a reasonably priced, well-maintained home for students in full-time higher education in London. The House is spread across two large floors above King’s Cross Methodist Church.
Rents (including all bills) for the next academic year 2016/17 are as follows:
Single Rooms £550 per month
Shared (Twin) Rooms £425 per month per person
There are fourteen single rooms and six shared rooms. Each student is provided with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and chair, with good lighting and free internet access.
There is a fully-equipped communal kitchen with cookers, fridges, freezers, microwaves, pots and pans, and a large dining room. Each student has storage space in both cupboards and the fridge.
The House is centrally-heated, and has showers, a bath, free laundry-washing and drying facilities, and a (one-person) guest room. There is secure and sheltered cycle storage.
There is a large common room, a games area (including pool table and table tennis table), a TV room and a quiet room.
There is a communal study area and also a library/computer room, though wireless internet network is available throughout the House. Broadband provision is included in the rent.
The House has its own piano and a roof-top terrace garden. In addition there is a baby grand piano available to those with grade 8 for practice and spaces downstairs in the Church available for rehearsals/meetings when they are not being otherwise used.
Students normally apply to stay for an academic year, and are welcome to re-apply for further years. There are occasionally vacancies in the course of the academic year.
Methodist Chaplaincy House can only accommodate students (except for short-stay guests). However, if you are not a student and are interested in the idea of living in a community with a Christian ethos in central London, there are two communities based at Hinde Street Methodist Church in the West End.
Methodist Chaplaincy House is affiliated to the Student Christian Movement.
