The recent Action Day at KPH saw a blank canvas of a garden transformed into a rich planting scheme with the aid of staff, residents and volunteers from across West London Mission.
Harington Gardeners had cleared the tangle of weeds from the rear garden at KPH in Highbury to enable us to see what ground we had and make the garden into an oasis of colour and planting.
A mixture of fruit trees (apples, pear, plum and even a mulberry) were planted in a couple of areas, as well as shrubs to give all year round colour and variety were planted up in the area closest to the patio.
One group of volunters also built three raised planters to add some herbacious interest.
A comparison of the before and after photos shows the extent of the transformation.
