Operating
from 134-136 Seymour Place, this pilot project began
in April 2001, following a police initiative.
It works with rough sleepers who have been arrested for social nuisance
offences and advises, assists and befriends such persons, meeting
them initially in the police cells, and then linking them with other
agencies as appropriate. The team seeks to maintain close contact
with such people, and currently has over 100 on its books. The success
of the project has led to its expansion into other police stations
in Westminster Borough
and the employment of extra workers.
