Every Sunday
there is a 10am service of Holy Communion using the 1936 Methodist
equivalent of the Book of Common Prayer liturgy.
The 11am service is ordered but friendly. On the first and third
Sundays of the month it includes Holy Communion, and the Second
Sunday uses an Order of Morning Prayer all in modern language,
using the Methodist Worship Book. The Junior Church joins the adult
congregation for the latter part of the service.
Major Christian festivals are usually All-Age celebrations.
The churchs fine pipe organ is used at this service
and hymns are an important part of worship. The church is well suited
to congregational singing. The 6.30 pm. service is thoughtful, at
times experimental. As a smaller congregation it is often in
the round. This congregation has a number of people in their
20s and 30s. The first Sunday of the month has a meditative feel
to it, and the second and the fourth include Holy Communion, often
using alternative liturgies.
All congregations use Hymns and Psalms and Common
Ground which together provide a helpful collection
of older and modern hymns.
Among the particular highlights of the Church year are the Christmas
services, an International Watchnight Service on 31st December,
and the observance of the three hours devotion on Good Friday. Easter
Day includes a dawn service in Manchester Square Gardens.
There is a short daily prayer every weekday morning at 9.15 in the
Quiet Room.
