WLM The Haven

We love providing care which is centred around each person's individual needs

Long-term alcohol dependency can lead to a range of health issues, both physical and emotional. WLM The Haven is a Registered Care Home which is a sanctuary providing care and specialist support for men managing addiction to alcohol. Many may have experience of street homelessness and have suffered from untreated illnesses and injuries, the effects of long-term poor diet and significant mental health conditions. WLM The Haven provides a stable environment using a harm-reduction approach, giving them the time, space and support to make positive changes in their lives and begin their road to recovery.

How does WLM The Haven operate?

• WLM The Haven offers long term care and accommodation for those who have a chronic alcohol addiction and who are unable or unwilling to stop drinking.

• A philosophy of harm reduction guides the practice of the home.

• Residents are able to consume agreed amounts of alcohol on the premises.

• Many of our residents have experienced homelessness or chaotic lifestyles in the recent past.

• The primary aims of the service will be to address health, dietary and accommodation needs of residents.

• Staff and volunteers encourage residents to participate in activities that are of interest to them.

• We also encourage residents to develop or renew positive relationships where possible with their families.

'I’m happy to be here and I like the place. The staff are patient and friendly. I like how I have been treated'

Alan
