Would you like to work in an engaging role within the Methodist Church providing pastoral care to migrant workers and advocating the Christian faith?

The West London Mission (WLM) is a Circuit of the Methodist Church. It is a Circuit with two city-centre churches at Hinde Street in Marylebone and King’s Cross, and six Circuit social projects. Each of the churches engages in worship, learning and caring, service and evangelism in ways that reflect Methodist tradition and their distinctive identity, history and context.

Kings Cross Methodist Church has run a service for legal and illegal migrant workers since 2000. In 2005 a Mandarin-speaking congregation was established and has now grown to 70-80 members and with about 30 teenagers, who age between 12 and 18. 70-80% of the membership is migrant workers and their children. The issues they present are different from the original undocumented workers and are more concerned with living in this country as a migrant worker/non-English speaker than mere survival.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  1. Managing the migrant workers service as part of the mission and outreach of the church.
  2. Working with the second-generation of the migrant workers who have become members of the Mandarin-speaking congregation.
