WLM CEO takes Government role

WLM’s Chief Executive, Jon Kuhrt, has accepted a full-time position in the Rough Sleeping Initiative Team at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

The role is specifically to advise and support local authorities funded by the government and the organisations delivering services for them to work effectively with churches, faith groups and other community organisations which are helping people to escape rough sleeping. This is an area in which Jon has particular experience, expertise and interest.

WLM is in a good place, with a strong team of senior managers and key staff and a stable financial situation. We also have some exciting projects in the pipeline. Jon said ‘I have really enjoyed my eight years at WLM and it has been a huge privilege to oversee the great work that WLM does. Although I am sad to leave, I feel confident that WLM has a great future.’

WLM’s Superintendent Minister, Rev Peter Cornick said: 'WLM is thankful that Jon has led us through a period of enormous change with grace and wisdom. Jon has developed the connection between the world of social provision and faith and leaves WLM confident in its direction and future. He leaves WLM with our prayers and blessing for his new role.'

Jon will join the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for 2 days a week from mid-November and then will leave WLM on 14th December. The plans for recruitment to the role will be announced shortly.
